5 hot eco-technology startups you should know about
Francesca Brady

With an increase of environmental awareness, there is a heightened demand for a wide range of smart ecological solutions. In response, a number of eco-tech start-ups have been launched, with some of them achieving impressive results and growing at a rapid pace.

Some of these emerging companies could become tomorrow’s market leaders.

Kumbaya (United States)

This California-based company is on a mission to bring electricity and connectivity to remote parts of the world with its trademark zeroXess product, which acts as a hub for off-the-grid homes. The device is capable of accumulating solar energy and sharing it with up to 6 other utensils through USB ports, it also features literacy programs, nutrition information and entrepreneurship training courses. In recognition of its contributions, Kumbaya was chosen to become a U.N. Global Compact worldwide sustainability partner.

Sprout Stack (Australia)

Sprout Stack is moving the boundaries when it comes to hydroponics, as its state-of-the-art farms feature a high level of automation and complete IoT readiness. The farms are perfectly insulated, allowing for production of fresh produce without chemicals. Three fully functional farms have been built so far and the company is currently negotiating to expand the project to several cities in Australia.

GreenHome (Netherlands)

Upon realising that around 20% of greenhouse emissions come from private homes, this Dutch start-up decided to take direct action and educate homeowners how to decrease their reliance on fossil fuels. Customers can receive personalised advice regarding sustainable energy solutions that can be implemented on location without major investments, with solar panels as the most popular choice. Through this initiative, GreenHome hopes to slow down the rate of global climate change, which is an important goal considering that Netherlands is extremely vulnerable to rising sea levels.

Oxen (USA)

Oxen is a blockchain network, cryptocurrency and loyalty programme which is maintained by a large number of environmental organisations globally. In return, these organisations receive 0.5% of every transaction made. The eco friendly, unique platform can be used by businesses to designate funds, and track the projects they want to support.

Asset Mapping (United Kingdom)

Asset Mapping provide iOT solutions that produce real-time data to help you have a positive impact on energy expenditure and enhance the environment of your building.

With user-friendly and intuitive visual maps, the Asset Mapping platform empowers FMs to become proactive to maintenance issues. Using smart sensors, various factors including energy consumption, humidity, C02, noise and automated temperature controls are measured. This data can then be utilised to help buildings perform optimally, become cheaper to run and kinder to the environment.  Ensure maintenance and surveys stay in the green by using industry recognised schedules, maintain your compliance levels intuitively and find peace of mind.

Contact Asset Mapping today and discover how our technology can be used to make your space smarter, cleaner, more energy efficient and happier.
