STANLEY Security implements an Asset Mapping Platform to optimise their services
Case Study

The Client: STANLEY Security is a leading global provider of security and life safety systems. The company has been a dominant force across European and North American markets for more than 30 years and caters to a large number of high-end clients from numerous business sectors.

The problem: As a security company covering a range of locations, STANLEY Security recognised the need to optimise their activities and better utilise all available engineers.

As all locations are unique, forward knowledge of the setup for each one is valuable during the planning and preparation stage. Thus, STANLEY required a digital system that could streamline their operations and reduce costs by providing engineers with detailed information about each location.

Project description: STANLEY selected the Asset Mapping Platform to create visual maps of the locations where their security services are provided; offer a centralised repository for asset information; and improve first time fix rates. These maps can be leveraged to improve customer services, ensure better utilisation of available human resources, provide visibility of assets and detailed equipment information.

The Asset Mapping Platform allows STANLEY Security to receive all relevant information remotely, using data to create a virtual map. Multiple engineers can use these maps to become familiar with security devices installed there, allowing them to quickly spot any equipment that needs to be serviced or replaced.

Advantages for STANLEY Security:
-  Centralised Asset Register
-  Improved Customer satisfaction
-  Improved Client retention and ability to provide a better service
-  Better preparation for field work
-  The ability to send the right engineer to the right location to ensure issues are resolved first time
-  Improved workforce satisfaction
-  Increased agility and shortened reaction time
-  More efficient asset utilisation
-  Simplified training of human resources

Benefits for end-customers:
-  More comprehensive support
-  Reduced need for presence of STANLEY Security personnel on the site
-  Faster servicing of security equipment
-  Minimal disruption during equipment repairs
-  Improved Asset life span
-  Better service for less

Future expansion: By combining the Asset Mapping Platform with technologies like Low Energy Bluetooth, GPS, RTLS Location Tracking and Temperature monitoring, Connected Networks could be upgraded to provide real-time data on all assets in the network. This would have an impact on the usefulness and comprehensiveness of the system, unlocking a whole new layer of functionalities that have a direct application in the security sector.

In the client’s words:

‘Most security companies use an asset register spreadsheet to detail an installed security system, but this is basic and limited in terms of what information you can include. In a digital world, this approach is out of date. Moving to Connected Assets enables us to add considerably more valuable information and our field engineers are using it to good effect. It’s working well for our customers, big and small, from a single newsagent to a large international airport.’ – Stephen Hodgkinson-Soto, STANLEY Security Service Director GB
