5 exciting up-and-coming UK tech companies
Francesca Brady

The United Kingdom has a vibrant technology industry, with dozens of new companies vying for their place in the sun by offering bold, innovative ideas. It’s difficult to keep track with all the newcomers to the market, but the following four companies definitely shouldn’t be overlooked:

OxSyBio

This company specialises in 3D printing of tissue-like materials that can be used as building blocks for organ repair and a range of other medical procedures. Synthetic tissues can closely mimic living cells and can also be used to create experimental technological devices based on biologic parts. Needless to say, this is a ground-breaking field with tremendous potential for practical application.

The company was founded by the Oxford professor Hagan Bayley in 2014, and has quickly gained attention as one of the most interesting high-tech start-ups in Britain. OxSyBio is headquartered in London and has already attracted more than 10 million pounds funding.

Cubic Motion

When it comes to machine vision and high-tech animation, few companies in the world can compare to this Manchester-based organisation. Cubic Motion brings together a team composed of elite professionals who are able to analyse spatiotemporal data in a way that takes digital animation (especially human face animation) to another level. The quality of the products and services offered by Cubic Motion haven’t gone unnoticed, so the client list of this UK company includes heavyweights like Sony and Activision.

With 20 million pounds in funding already on its books, Cubic Motion looks like it’s just warming up for a stellar rise to the very top of the digital art market.

Graphcore

Refining the performance of artificial intelligence algorithms sounds like a demanding job, unless you ask the people working for this Bristol start-up. The systems developed by this company can accelerate AI applications in the cloud by the factor of 100 while lowering their costs of operation. Not surprisingly, this idea found strong support from the investors, and Graphcore has already branched out to the U.S. with an office in California.

Improbable

Improbable are basically building the Matrix! With an evaluation of $1 billion, this British multinational technology company was formed in 2012.  It’s rumoured their innovative technology will help change the way we make decisions. Game Developers and Engineers can work on their middleware SpatialOS platform, a technology that enables developers to make unique and totally immersive virtual worlds whilst engaging more users simultaneously than other current modern technology.

Asset Mapping

This innovative London company is redefining the way office buildings are managed and maintained. Asset Mapping possesses an impressive know-how in the areas of system integration and data visualisation, which is manifested through interactive visual maps representing assets in the client’s network. A number of parameters can be tracked in real time and the solution is easily scalable and highly customisable, allowing Asset Mapping to maintain a very broad market appeal.

At Asset Mapping, we help make smart buildings that are cheaper to operate, kinder to the environment and healthier to work in. Get in touch today to find out more.
